Grandmaster Young-Shil, Jang
Our President and founder is Grandmaster Chang, Young-Shil. Grandmaster Chang began teaching Hapkido in 1960 opening our headquarters in Pyongtaek, South Korea in 1968. Grandmaster Chang taught Korean Military and Special Forces, Presidential Body Guards, as well as numerous other Korean Governmental Agencies. Grandmaster Chang is the founder (KukSaNim) of our International Hapkido Federation and we are not affiliated with any other federation of the same name.

President of the U.S. Headquarters

Master Jeff Allen began training under Koreans at the age of 7. Master Allen lived, learned, and taught at the Korean Headquarters directly under Grandmaster Young-Shil, Jang. Master Allen returned to the U.S. in 2000 to open the U.S. Headquarters. Master Allen is prior military intelligence, and continues to military special operations and other goverment personnel. Master Allen also had the honor of providing joint forces personal protection to the Korean President Young-Sam Kim.

Sahbumnim Merchant has been training and teaching Hapkido for 8 years. Sahbumnim trained directly under Kwangjanim Allen at the U.S. Headquarters, and also recieved training under Grandmaster Young-Shil Jang during his visits to to the U.S. Sahbumnim Merchant is prior Law Enforcement serving as a uniformed officer for the Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Department Of State. He also served as a Correctional Officer for juveniles for the State of Virginia.

Master Mike Tsung trained at the Korean Headquarters for many years. Master Tsung is retired Airforce Security Police and was NCOIC of AF Emergency Services Team. MAster Tsung now serves as a Pennsylvania State Trooper in the Philadelphia area.

Instructor John Sagal trained at the Korean Headquarters for many years. Master Sagal is prior Airforce Security Police and was NCOIC of AF Emergency Services Team. Master Sagal is now a Maryland State Trooper in the Frostburg area.

Instructor Scott James trained at the Korean Headqurters under Grandmaster Jang. Master James is active duty Airforce as a Master Sergeant and currently serves at Hill AFB, Utah.

Instructor Chris Crawford trained at the Korean Headquarters under Grandmaster Jang. Master Crawford is active duty Airforce as a Master Sergeant, he is serving at Luke AFB, Arizona.

InstructorTim Lecon trained at the Korean Headquarters under Grandmaster Jang. Master Lecon is active duty Airforce as a staff sergeant in intelligence. He is serving at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Instructor John Figueroa trained at the U.S. Headquarters under Master Allen. He also received training under Grandmaster Jang during his visits to the U.S. Master Figueroa is now serving with the U.S. Army. We will update his information as soon as he arrives at his duty station.

Instructor Steve Sharp trained under Master Crawford in Arizona. Master Sharp is active duty Airforce as a Technical Sergeant in Aircraft Maintenance as Superintendent. He is now serving at Gianaclis AFB, Egypt.
